Winter/Spring 2010 Art at the Cape May City
Library, Cape May County Library
Dates Vary
Children are invited to the Winter/Spring 2010 Art at the Library
Program being held at the Cape May City Public Library. The program,
sponsored by the Cape May Center for Community Arts, takes place at
3:30-4:30 p.m. every other Wednesday. The library is located at
Ocean and Hughes Streets in Cape May The program, for children ages
six through ten, will be held on the following dates: • January 20th
– “To Be an Artist!” – Listen to a story about different art forms
from around the world and make an instrument • February 3rd – “The
Mitten” – Read a Ukrainian folktale and sew a felted mitten •
February 17h – “The Willow Pattern Story” – Listen to a Chinese
story and make a blue willow plate • March 3rd – “When Fire Came to
the Earth People” – Read an African folktale about how light was
brought to earth and create paper cut-out collages • March 17th –
“The Pot That Juan Built” – Listen to a story from Mexico and make a
clay pinch pot • March 31st – “Under the Cherry Tree” – Create
beautiful cherry blossom trees after reading a story from Japan •
April 14th – “Mama Do You Love Me” – Listen to a tale from the
Arctic and create an Inuit mask • April 28th – “The Woman in the
Moon” – Read a Hawaiian tale and make block printed “tapas” cloths •
May 12th – “Miss Rumphius” – The spring semester is concluded by
reading a story from our home country then make and decorate a seed
package, seeds included!! The Cape May Center for Community Arts is
a multi-cultural educational organization whose arts and humanity
programs foster creativity, community building and appreciation for
the rich diversity of our world. Registration and a valid library
